DAY 48: GALATIANS

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1)

Dear Christian,

You have been set free.

Before I understood the gospel, I believed the lie that Christianity was all about being a good person. So I attended church religiously, I served, and I prayed. But while my body was in church, my heart was far from the Lord.

Though my hands served, I had no joy in it. I had this inward battle where my actions did not match how my heart felt. It was like the weight of eternity rested on my shoulders as I kept asking God whether I have already done enough to be saved.

But God opened my eyes to the meaning of grace.

For so long I tried to earn God’s favor by doing good works. But the Bible tells us that even our good works falls short to God’s perfect standard. So, out of love for us, God sent us His Son, Jesus, to fulfill every law we failed to keep and to die the death that we deserved. So that Christ’s perfect record is now our own.

Jesus has set us free. And God opened my eyes to Christianity that is vibrant, beautiful, and alive where worship is a celebration and not a chore. Grace finally became real to me and my works-based heart experienced freedom in a way I've never known before. I felt (and still feel) very much alive.

I pray today that you would also have a renewed sense of this freedom. The Lord has set you free. Rejoice!
