DAY 25: LAMENTATIONS
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)
Dear Christian,
God’s mercies are new every morning.
Have you ever felt like God could not possibly forgive you this time? That you have committed so great a sin that could not be forgiven? Do you feel haunted by guilt and shame? Or discouraged that you’ve fallen once again to the sin that clings so closely?
I have bad news and good news.
Bad news: Our sin is great.
Good news: Our Savior is even greater.
No matter what difficulties or sins we may have experienced in the past, each new day is an opportunity for redemption, forgiveness, and a fresh start. The Lord’s mercy and grace are boundless and inexhaustible. I take great comfort that Jesus has paid for all our sins — past, present, and yes, future.
“So when the devil throws your sins in your face and declares that you deserve death and hell, tell him this: "I admit that I deserve death and hell, what of it? For I know One who suffered and made satisfaction on my behalf. His name is Jesus Christ, Son of God, and where He is there I shall be also!”” (Martin Luther)
Love,
Patsy
