When I see stars like this, I’m immediately reminded of Christmas in the Philippines.

Growing up, my family would hang parols—traditional star lanterns—on our doors and windows. In the Philippines, the parol symbolizes the star that guided the three kings to the birthplace of Jesus.

In the neighborhood where I grew up, these lanterns lit up the streets—hanging from trees and houses along our road. It always felt magical driving through them at night, as if the whole world was glowing with the hope and promise of Christmas.
